The Trade It MCP server enables agents to trade stocks, cryptocurrencies, and options on platforms like Robinhood, E*Trade, Webull, Charles Schwab, Coinbase, or Kraken. It supports natural language interaction to execute trades, query portfolio performance, and surface market insights. The server is remote, so no local installation is required.

Tools

search_assets
Search for a stock or crypto by ticker or name; returns price and metadata.
get_accounts
List all linked brokerage accounts and balances.
create_trade
Create a draft equity or crypto order.
create_options_trade
Create a draft single-leg or multi-leg options order.
execute_trade
Submit a previously created draft to the broker after explicit user confirmation.

Setup

  1. Create an account at https://tradeit.app. 2. Sign up for the Pro plan's free trial. 3. Connect your brokerage of choice. 4. Connect your MCP client to https://mcp.tradeit.app/mcp or https://mcp.tradeit.app/sse. 5. Authenticate through the browser-based OAuth flow.

Fit and risk

Best for

  • Experienced investors who want to automate trade execution
  • Users with multiple brokerage accounts who need a single interface
  • Active traders who want quick access to account balances and quotes

Not for

  • Beginners unfamiliar with investing or options
  • Users seeking investment advice or financial planning
  • Users who need to withdraw funds or transfer assets, as this server only places trades

Required permissions

  • Read account balances and holdings
  • Create and submit trade orders
  • Access linked brokerage accounts

Risks and side effects

  • Market volatility can lead to loss of principal
  • Options involve substantial risk and are not suitable for all investors
  • Orders may fail due to brokerage connection issues
  • Careful confirmation needed to avoid accidental executions

Troubleshooting

  1. Connection issues: Check your internet and ensure the MCP endpoint is correct.
  2. Authentication errors: Ensure you've completed the OAuth flow and granted necessary permissions.
  3. Order not executed: Confirm the order status is 'draft' and you've explicitly confirmed execution.
  4. Unsupported assets: Ensure the asset you're trading is supported by your brokerage.

Use cases

Execute trades based on natural language requests
Query portfolio balances and performance
Create draft orders for review, then confirm execution
